On Monday, the prominent Democrat went on record as pro-infanticide by voting against Republican Senator Ben Sasse’s Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which would mandate that doctors perform medical care on infants born alive due to botched abortions. Only three Senate Democrats voted for the legislation. After Warren waxed poetic to an Iowa crowd about the importance of healthcare for all, a man attending the event bluntly asked her why infants born alive from botched abortions were denied healthcare. ‘What about the babies that survive abortion?’ he asked. ‘How come they can’t have healthcare?’ Warren responded, ‘Infanticide is illegal everywhere in America.’ ‘You voted against it,’ the man pushed back, referring to her no vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.” “Warren Confronted over Infanticide Position,” DailyWire.com, Mar. 1, 2019 ![]() Genesis 1:24 “And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.” Most listeners to these programs will at sometime have visited a museum to see the dinosaurs. Of course, the tangible remains consist of fossil skeletons and, if one is allowed to touch the bones, they are as hard as rock. Sometimes they are actually cement or plaster since they are copies. However, we are told that over the millions of years, the original bone had been replaced by minerals. Except for the millions of years, this is often true but not always. Fence posts, for example, have been found mineralized at one end and plain wood at the other. In 1993, Science Research News reported graduate student Mary Schweitzer’s reaction when examining a slice of 65-million year old T. rex bone from Montana using the electron microscope: “I got goose bumps … it was exactly like looking at a slice of modern bone … How could blood cells survive that long?” To compound the problem, strands of DNA were later identified within the blood. What does this mean? Firstly, from the known rate at which the DNA structure breaks down under natural radioactivity, the cells were clearly less than 10,000 years old. Secondly, this is not an isolated case, and a major argument is now brewing behind the cloistered walls of academia. This is further mounting evidence against the popular but godless doctrine of evolution. https://creationmoments.com/sermons/dinosaur-bones-not-always-fully-fossilized-3/ ![]() The entire field of pop idols, from Elvis to Justin Bieber, is largely fantasy, but the ultimate fantasy pop idols are Hatsune Miku of Japan and Luo Tianyi of China. They are non-existent holograms, one hundred percent fiction. First there was Hatsune Miku. She performed sold-out concerts attended by tens of thousands of screaming fans and opened for Lady Gaga. An avatar created by the Japanese company Crypton Future Media, Hatsune is projected onstage as a dancing hologram. She is the ultimate scantily-clothed pop singer of youthful fantasy with an unrealistically proportioned figure and a hyper-cute, Manga-influenced face. Girls fantasize that they are Hatsune, and boys fantasize that she is their girlfriend. One fan said, “She’s rather more like a goddess: She has human parts, but she transcends human limitations. She’s the great post-human pop star” (“Hatsune Miku: The world’s fakest pop star,” CBNNews, Nov. 9, 2012). Now China has its own superstar avatar named Luo Tianyi with a fan base of millions. The holograph performed before thousands of fans at Shanghai’s Mercedes-Benz arena on March 2, 2019, accompanied by world famous Chinese pianist Lang Lang. Tickets to the show cost as much as US$235. “Fans waved blue glow sticks to the rhythm and yelled Luo’s name, with some even bursting into tears” (“China’s virtual idols meet their fans,” South China Morning Post, Mar. 2, 2019). Kit Cheung Jie, a 17-year-old high school student in Hong Kong, said, “She is not a real person so she can be whatever you want her to be. It’s like a customized idol that only belongs to you.” University student Gao Yu shouted, “Tiani, my lover, I love you!” Luo is supposed to be an angel sent to bring happiness to the world by music. Her name is from an ancient river goddess, and she wears a green jade charm with occultic significance. The Chinese government sees the power of these avatars to manipulate the minds of youth. Luo has been recruited by the Chinese Communist Youth League to be its youth ambassador, because she is easier to manage than people, who “make their own decisions” and may choose to contradict the Chinese government (“China programs virtual youth icons to instill correct thinking into millennials,” Global Times, Dec. 7, 2017). The heart and soul of pop idol fantasy is sex, as with pop music as a whole. The boys and girls of idol bands and the virtual idols like Hatsune Miku and Luo Tianyi are carefully crafted to fit within the current definition of cute and sexy, and the unisex aspect appeals both to “straights” and homosexuals. Mature lancet flukes live in cows and other grazing animals. Their eggs are spread in the manure left by the animal. Snails, which naturally eat the manure, eat the eggs. Once in the snail’s intestines, the eggs hatch. The flukes make their way to the outside of the snail. Meanwhile, the irritated snail tries to get rid of the flukes by imprisoning them in balls of slime, which it leaves behind in the grass. A foraging ant is likely to find the ball, filled with hundreds of flukes. When the ant eats it, the flukes leave the ant’s intestinal tract, finally settling as a cluster of nerves that control the ant’s mandibles. The ant seems perfectly normal until the sun begins to set. Then the ant, under the control of the flukes, climbs a blade of grass, and the mandible clamps shut on the end. There the ant waits to be consumed by a grazer, where the lancet life cycle begins all over. Even stranger, if the ant isn’t eaten by the time the sun returns, the ant returns to normal life, until the next sunset. Although parasites are part of the curse of sin, the lancet fluke is still a testimony to God’s incredible creativity. https://creationmoments.com/sermons/rube-goldberg-flukes-3/ ![]() A Pentecostal pastor in South Africa has been caught faking a resurrection (“South Africa funeral firm to sue pastor, for ‘resurrection stunt,’” BBC News, Feb. 26, 2019). A video of Pastor Alph Lukau raising a man from the dead “went viral,” but it turns out, not surprisingly, to be a hoax. In the video, the pastor, whose church is near Johannesburg, is standing beside a man lying in a coffin, pretending to be dead. To add authenticity, Lukau introduces the “dead man’s” family and friends. He then passes his hands over the man’s body, pauses dramatically, and shouts, “Rise up!” The man instantly sits up but has a bug-eyed look as if he is in a daze. A group of funeral directors who were manipulated by the scheme are suing the pastor. This is only the latest in more than 100 years of heresies, hoaxes, scandals, and nonsense emanating from the Pentecostal-Charismatic movements. It began with the students of Charles Parham’s Bible school in Kansas who claimed to speak and write in “tongues” that they claimed were Chinese but which turned out to be nothing at all, and the Azusa Street “holy choir” which was actually mass confusion. See “Azusa Street and the Birth of Pentecostalism,” www.wayoflife.org/azusa/. Jesus raised the dead as a sign that He is the Messiah. And Peter raised Dorcas from the dead (Acts 9:36-42) as the “sign of an apostle” (2 Corinthians 12:12). There are no apostles today; only deceivers pretending to be apostles. The apostles laid the foundation of the church (Ephesians 2:20), completed the canon of Scripture, and went to be with the Lord. At Christ’s return, they will sit on 12 thrones (only 12) judging the 12 tribes of Israel (Luke 22:30). Their 12 names (only 12) are inscribed in the New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:14). We believe in a miracle-working God and we have experienced miracles for nearly a half century of walking with Him, but we don’t believe in sign miracles for today. And we believe in healing according to James 5, but we don’t believe in the gift of healing today because that pertained to the apostles. Though we have attended the “healing crusades” of some the most prominent Pentecostal faith healers of our lifetime, we have seen nothing but heresy, nonsense, and fakery. They claim to live in the power of Pentecost and to have special Holy Spirit baptisms and apostolic power, but they can’t heal like the apostles, they can’t raise the dead like the apostles, they can’t speak in tongues like the apostles, they can’t prophesy like the apostles, and they don’t have the spiritual wisdom of the apostles. But could salt preserve bacteria alive for thousands or even millions of years? In the year 2000, researchers claimed to have revived bacteria that were entombed within salt crystals from a New Mexico mine. Geologists dated the layer from which they were taken at 250 million years. Scientists admit bacteria could not last, even dormant, for that long. Other research has shown that the random effects of molecular motion, even within a dormant bacterium, will cause the DNA to break down. After 100,000 years, there should be no DNA left. For this reason, other researchers said that the bacteria found must be a result of contamination and were therefore modern bacteria. After all, they said, an examination of the DNA of the salt bacteria is very similar to that of modern bacteria. After hundreds of millions of years of supposed evolution, it should be quite different. If you forget evolution and its supposed long ages, there is a more rational solution to this mystery. No one questions that DNA, even of bacteria, can survive for several thousand years. If the salt deposit from which the bacterium was taken was laid down as a result of Noah’s Flood, the bacteria could well have survived. https://creationmoments.com/sermons/how-long-can-bacteria-sleep-3/ ![]() Psalm 104:30 “Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.” Living fossils are creatures believed to be extinct and known only through the fossil record. The most famous living fossil is the Coelacanth. It is a fish, and textbooks claim it has been extinct for 70 million years according to the evolutionary timetable. Now we know that schools of them live in the Indian Ocean. To make the claim that a creature is extinct is really only an opinion until the entire Earth has been searched and no living specimen found. Another example based upon opinion is the trilobite, said to typify the Cambrian period. Textbooks regard it as an index fossil, indicating that any rocks in which its fossil is found must therefore be Cambrian. The index fossil system was placed in serious question again when living trilobites were found. Other living fossils used to date rock layers are the Graptolites. They supposedly lived 300 million years ago, and so have been considered a reliable indicator of that age. We know now that they are still with us. The point is not just the discovery of creatures thought to be long extinct. The point is that opinions based upon their fossils are the foundation for the millions of years essential for the doctrine of evolution. As Scripture says, the foolishness of God, Who made all these creatures, is greater than the wisdom of man. https://creationmoments.com/sermons/living-fossils-evolutions-oops-3/ ![]() Genesis 1:21a “And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind….” An unusual example of a design in nature that runs counter to human common sense is found in the pectoral flippers of the humpback whale. The leading edge of these flippers, which one would intuitively expect to be smooth, actually sport evenly spaced bumps. After all, airplanes, as well as birds, have sleek leading edges on their wings. These smooth edges would seem to be the most efficient at cutting through the air, which is a fluid, just like water. Puzzled about this, scientists recently made two models of the humpback’s pectoral fins. One had a smooth edge, the other had the bumps that appear on real fins. These models were taken for testing in a wind tunnel. Not surprisingly, the smooth-edged fins performed like a standard wing. However, the humpback model did much better! It generated 8 percent more lift and a third less drag than the standard design. What’s more, the bumpy wing could angle 40 percent more steeply into the air than the sleek model before it stalled. Since water, like air, is a fluid, these principles would apply to a real humpback fin, enabling humpbacks to be more nimble in the water. This unusual design comes in handy for the humpback because they feed on fast-moving schools of nimble herring and sardines. Obviously, God gave them a special design to help them do this. https://creationmoments.com/sermons/the-best-swimming-wing-3/ ![]() Genesis 1:28 “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” If my mother were still alive, she would have been a hundred years old this year, as I write this script. One of her favorite things as a child was to look at the Moon. She was sure she could see a man’s face on its surface. But in later years, she told me she didn’t like the Moon anymore. “They’ve spoiled it for me,” she said. “They’ve spoiled it by putting their dirty great footprints all over it.” So she was not a fan as I was of the Apollo Moon program. While I watched spellbound, as astronauts bounced their way around the craters, she was worried about how taking Moon rock back to Earth was somehow leaving the Moon damaged. Perhaps there was a tendency among some of that generation to be concerned about the rapid march of progress and technology. And we are well aware today that not every technological achievement has been beneficial to mankind. But God gave humanity the so-called Cultural Mandate, in Genesis 1:28. We are to “replenish the earth, and subdue it.” This subduing of the earth requires the development of technology – some of which is described in Genesis 4:20-22, with the first husbandry, musician and metalsmith. While we must always be cognizant of the impact of our technology on the environment, we are, after all, supposed to be stewards of this planet. The forward march of technology is a good thing, even if it does leave dirty great footprints all over the Moon! https://creationmoments.com/sermons/the-pursuit-of-technology/ ![]() “I have asked but never received an answer why sane people are paying inflated prices for ugly clothes: faded, old, patched, muddied, holey, and raged clothes. This is called the distressed look. My word would be depressed or disgusted look. Dirty jeans used to reflect toil, sweat, but now they are worn by people who are so guilt-ridden for having riches that they want to appear to live the way normal people live. Many of these people have no experience with hard work and dirty hands; however, many have massive problems with dirty minds. But then, that is a judgment call and I may be wrong in some cases. Nancy B. Diehl, director of New York University’s Costume Studies program may have the answer why sane people want to look like bums. She said, ‘It’s an “I’m going to expose my body if I want to” type of ethos. In a way, it’s a protest against propriety.’ It displays rebellion to what is proper and acceptable and often a rejection of one’s upbringing. Charlene Lau, a fashion historian who has taught at Parsons School of Design, said, ‘At the same time, distressed, tattered and dirty clothing also tends to work against middle-class norms of cleanliness and propriety. In this sense, they are symbolic of rebellion—whether real, contrived, or imagined.’ Bingo! I think they are right. This ‘distressed’ trend seems to be youth-driven and has now become acceptable even promoted by the fashion world of London, Paris, New York, and Hollywood. The world of high fashion has now embraced ‘distressed’ clothing as chic. Of course, their motive is the buck suckered from people too stupid to think for themselves. One distressed-wearing female said of trash clothes, ‘They lend an air of super casualness to your personality and make you just a bit more careless and carefree.’ That’s what people need today—more carelessness. Youth have always wanted to show their independence (while they live in Mom’s basement and live off parents and the taxpayers) but the distressed look is not an expression of individuality but of submission. By accepting what is currently fashionable they become a slave to fashion, not independent thinkers. The distressed clothing is another fad that empty, hopeless, purposeless youth pursue to show their rebellion to normalcy, modesty, propriety, and common sense. Likewise, some Evangelical preachers wear distressed clothing to make them appear stylish while they really look silly—like the youth they are trying to impress. A person’s garments have always carried a message. Today’s message from distressed clothing is one of carelessness, crassness, coarseness, and is somewhat cloddish.” “The War on Modesty Decorum, and Appropriateness!” Don Boys, cstnews.com, Jan. 30, 2019 ![]() Genesis 1:25 “And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.” The teacher looked at his students as they hung on his words. They were silent. It was very difficult to get them to answer his questions. “So, then, class,” he began, “what family does the okapi belong to?” He had showed them a picture of an okapi on the screen and emphasized some of the characteristics it shared with its taller cousin. He had shown them its long, blue tongue, and its skin-covered little horns on its head. “Come on,” he urged, as the silence became deafening. “Someone must know! Johnny, do you know what family the okapi belongs to?” Johnny considered the question thoughtfully. “Please, sir, I don’t know!” he said at last. “There’s no family on our street has one.” In fact, the okapi is the smaller, shorter-necked, much less well-known member of the family giraffidae, whose only other member, as you might guess, is the giraffe. Wikipedia suggests that a common ancestor of giraffe and okapi existed some 11.5 million years ago. The timescale was estimated by comparing the very similar DNA of the two species and estimating how long it might take for the various necessary genetic substitutions to take place. We would not accept that timescale, but the relationship seems to be undeniable. Therefore, we assume that the giraffidae family is, in fact, the giraffidae biblical kind, and, therefore, giraffe and okapi do indeed possess a common ancestor. This is not evolution. This is speciation within a kind, as described in the Bible. https://creationmoments.com/sermons/the-elusive-okapi/ ![]() On February 4, Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of al-Azhar, Ahmed el-Tayeb signed the DOCUMENT ON HUMAN FRATERNITY FOR WORLD PEACE in Abu Dhabi. It is based on the doctrine of the universal Fatherhood of God. The pope said the document “is born of faith in God who is the Father of all and the Father of peace” (“Pope: Peace document born of God,” Vatican News, Feb. 5, 2019). The document “invites all persons who have faith in God and faith in human fraternity to unite and work together so that it may serve as a guide for future generations to advance a culture of mutual respect in the awareness of the great divine grace that makes all human beings brothers and sisters.” The Grand Imam of al-Azhar, who is based in Egypt, holds a prominent position in the Sunni branch of Islam. This is the latest step toward a one-world religion and is further preparation for the coming Antichrist’s peace pact. The first major move toward this was the FIRST PARLIAMENT OF WORLD RELIGIONS in Chicago in 1893. This was the first formal gathering of representatives of Christianity and eastern religions. Hindu swami Vivekananda was given a three-minute standing ovation when he got up to speak. He urged the crowd to reject the “demons” of “sectarianism, bigotry, and fanaticism,” so that human society could advance and the world could be filled with peace and blessing. A WORLD CONGRESS OF FAITHS, held in London in 1936, was organized by the famous British explorer-soldier Francis Younghusband who believed that there is a “divine spark” within man and called God “the Central Spirit of Things” (Marcus Braybrooke, A Wider Vision: A History of the World Congress of Faiths, 1936-96). THE TEMPLE OF UNDERSTANDING was established in 1960 by Juliet Hollister to “create a more just and peaceful world.” Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of the U.S. president, was an active supporter and called it a “Spiritual United Nations.” The Temple of Understanding is closely affiliated with the United Nations and hosted the UN’s 50th anniversary celebration in 1995. Its offices are located in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, a radically liberal Episcopal church. THE SECOND VATICAN COUNCIL, which was held 1962-65, opened the doors for Roman Catholic involvement in interfaith dialogue. Vatican II announced that “whatever is true or good or noble among other peoples or religions owes its origin finally to God.” Vatican II stated that people in other religions can be saved by their “faith,” but it also reaffirmed its belief that the Roman Catholic Church is the true church. In 1964 the Vatican established the PONTIFICAL COUNCIL FOR INTERRELIGIOUS DIALOGUE. Roman Catholic interfaith dialogue was shaped by Cardinal Francis Arinze during his presidency from 1984 to 2002. Over the years he sent “fraternal” greetings to and facilitated dialogue with every sort of religionist, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, Janist, Animist, whatever. In 1988 Arinze said, “Every human being is looking for God,” and, “The Christian should take notice of the beautiful elements in the religion of the other person” (Arinze interview with Ralph Rath, “Mutual Respect,” A.D. 2000 Together, Fall 1988, p. 7). In 1965, the leaders of seven world religions came together in San Francisco for a CONVOCATION OF RELIGION FOR WORLD PEACE. Pope Paul VI sent his blessing and the UN Secretary-General U Thant participated in person. On October 1986, Pope John Paul II held the first DAY OF PRAYER FOR WORLD PEACE in Assisi, Italy. Its objective is to find world peace through interfaith unity: “peace within the church and peace with all mankind.” The 160 participants included leaders from 32 Christian denominations and organizations and 11 non-Christian religions. The prayers included petitions to “the Great Thumb” by an African tribal animist and to “mother earth” by a Crow medicine man (“A Summit for Peace in Assisi,” Time magazine, Nov. 10, 1986). In 1988, the COUNCIL FOR A PARLIAMENT OF THE WORLD’S RELIGIONS (CPWR) was formed to “cultivate harmony between the world’s religious and spiritual communities and foster their engagement with the world and its other guiding institutions in order to achieve a peaceful, just, and sustainable world.” It is intended to be a continuation of the first Parliament of World Religions of 1893. The CPWR has sponsored interfaith Parliaments in 1993 in Chicago; in 1999 in Cape Town, South Africa; in 2004 in Barcelona, Spain; in 2009 in Melbourne, Australia; in 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah; and in 2018 in Toronto. In November 1994, Pope John Paul II hosted the WORLD CONFERENCE ON RELIGION AND PEACE. It was the first official interfaith conference at the Vatican and the theme was “Healing the World: Religions for Peace.” In 1995, the UNITED RELIGIONS ORGANIZATION was founded by Episcopalian priest William Swing, Communist Mikhail Gorbachev, and others. The announcement for the new organization was made at a syncretistic service held at the Grace Episcopal Cathedral in San Francisco. Alan Jones, dean of the cathedral, said the service was “a summons to the great religious traditions of the world to be in deeper conversation with each other as workers for peace, as guarantors of the sacredness of the earth” (San Francisco Chronicle, June 26, 1995). In his book Reimagining Christianity, Jones calls the doctrine of the cross a “vile doctrine.” Prayers and chants were offered to a dozen deities. During the service, children mingled water from over 30 “sacred waters” from around the world, including the Ganges, Amazon, Jordan, and Lourdes, to signify world unity. As the waters were poured into one bowl a children’s choir sang a dirge from the Missa Gaia, an earth-worshipping concert originally commissioned by the St. John the Divine Episcopal Cathedral in New York City. Swing said, “We are on the threshold of the first global civilization.” The WORLD COUNCIL OF CHURCHES, which was formed in 1948 and represents roughly 340 denominations, is deeply involved in interfaith activities. In 1978 its Ecumenical Prayer Cycle included this syncretistic prayer: “O God, the Parent of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our Parent: thou who art to us both Father and Mother: We who are thy children draw around thy lotus feet to worship thee. Thy compassion is as the fragrance of the lotus. We see thy compassion in Jesus. He gives content to the Hindu name for thee -- Siva, the Kindly One. He gives significance to the Muslim address of thee -- Allah, the Merciful. He embodies in the Godhead what the Buddhist worship in the Buddha -- compassion itself. Thou God of all the world, let our history teach us that we belong to thee alone and that thou alone dost belong to us” (Ecumenical Prayer Cycle, 1978, p. 157). The World Council’s Sixth Assembly, July 1983 in Vancouver, British Columbia, opened with Native American Indians tossing offerings of fish and tobacco into a “sacred fire” and dancing around the pagan altar. It also featured a Hindu dance to the “earth mother goddess.” “But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober” (1 Thessalonians 5:1-6). Having been a schoolteacher, I know what it is like to have one’s comments ridiculed by an irritating little boy and how we teachers often wished we could have used a putdown as dramatic and effective as the way that Grant frightened the child. Michael Crichton, who wrote the Jurassic Park novel, usually included an expert or experts in his stories who are there to explain the “real” science. Dr. Grant is such a character. His inclusion in the events later in the novel are on the basis that he knows his stuff. So when Crichton has Grant telling the urchin, “He moves like a bird, lightly, bobbing his head”, we are entitled to ask, “How does he know?” We have only just watched Grant explaining aspects of velociraptor’s appearance, based on an interpretation of the bones in a fossil. “You stare at him, and he just stares right back. And that’s when the attack comes. Not from the front, but from the side, from the other two ‘raptors you didn’t even know were there. Because Velociraptor’s a pack hunter.”Really? Has Grant ever watched velociraptors hunting in a pack? Let’s be clear. It is not possible to determine an animal’s pack behavior by looking at its bones. But the fictional Dr. Grant is behaving like any evolutionary scientist who uses fiction to bring their fossils to life. “Try to show a little respect,” Grant concludes, while showing no respect to observational scientific principles. https://creationmoments.com/sermons/respect-for-velociraptor/ |
