United Methodists Dismiss Case against Lesbian Preacher

The United Methodists have allowed a lesbian to continue as a preacher in one of their churches. Sara Thompson Tweedy, who preaches once a month at Memorial United Methodist Church in White Plains, New York, is a “proud, active, self-avowed lesbian” (“Methodists Drop Complaint,” OneNewsNow.com, May 7, 2014). Tweedy and her female “spouse” are raising two boys together. Though a complaint was filed, the denomination dismissed the case. Previously, Tweedy was a pastor.
