Deuteronomy 12:32 For several years now, the humorous "Will It Blend?" videos on YouTube have entertained millions of viewers. In each video, a man wearing a white lab coat places an object into a blender and turns it on, demolishing iPhones, Coke cans, a pair of Nikes, and anything else you can imagine. One of the only objects he wasn't able to "blend" was a crowbar. He didn't even try. Though the videos might crack you up, they remind Creation Moments of something that's really quite serious. Many people throughout history have tried to blend Christianity with other religions to make it more acceptable to people of other faiths. But all they end up doing is stripping Christianity of its power, its truth and its Savior. Webster's dictionary defines "syncretism" as "the combination of different forms of belief or practice." From the earliest days of Christianity, syncretism has been a blight on orthodox, biblical Christianity. It has taken many forms and has been successful at deceiving millions. Even today there are people who are trying to blend the "Bible" with "evolution" – as in theistic evolution. But like that crowbar, the Bible and evolution just will not blend. Without knowing it, however, many Christians have "blended" their beliefs with the belief systems of non-Christians. That's why it's so important for each one of us to examine the things we believe as well as the traditions we practice – placing them not in a blender but under the "microscope" of the Word of God.
