Psalm 147:4-5
“He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names. Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.”

Most of us have heard that our sun is an average-sized star. Yet, this star churns out more energy every second than we could ever use. Less than one-tenth of one percent of its energy falls on the Earth in any one second. If we could harness only one second’s worth of that energy, we would have more energy than man has used in his entire existence or expects to use for thousands of years into the future!

Some stars are so large that if they sat where our sun is, about 93 million miles away, the Earth would be inside them! Astronomers reckon that there are over one billion stars in our galaxy and over a million galaxies like it in the universe! This means that as incredible as God’s power must be to have created our sun, He actually made over a million times a billion suns! And just think, He did it all in one day and didn't even rest the next day. Scripture even tells us that He calls each star by name.

All stars are not the same. Some generate huge amounts of energy but are completely invisible to our eyes. Others spin at speeds up to dozens of times per second. Some stars actually flash on and off like giant space beacons. Truly, God’s power, wisdom and creativity are infinite.

Hillsong United proclaims their undying love for the Beatles by titling a 2014 remix of their most popular songs The White Album in honor of the 1968 Beatles album popularly known by that name. Hillsong United’s press release states, “... stealing its title as a respectful ode to arguably one of the greatest albums by perhaps the greatest band of all time (and no, we certainly aren't comparing our little remix project to The Beatles), but we are however inspired by the way they, like many others artists over the years have pioneered the sound of music for generations, defining culture along the way.” This proves the worldly taste and unscriptural thinking of one of the most popular and influential contemporary worship groups. The Beatles have wielded one of the most godless, wicked influences on modern society. The White Album that is so effusively praised by Hillsong United was produced after the Beatles visited the Hindu guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in India and while the band members were heavily involved with hallucinogenic drugs and should be called “The Beatles’ Demon Possessed Album.” The Beatles’ involvement with drugs and Hinduism paved the way for large numbers of young people to pursue the same soul-destroying paths. I was one of those thus influenced when I dropped out of society, became a drug user and seller, hitchhiked across America, and joined a Hindu meditation society in the early 1970s. When I won $70 from a slot machine in Las Vegas I thought it was an answer to prayer. I wanted to play Beatles songs like George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord,” an ode to the Hindu god Ram. In his 1965 book, A Spaniard in the Works, John Lennon called Jesus Christ many wicked things that we cannot repeat, and he blasphemed the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In Lennon’s song “God” (1970), he sang: “I don’t believe in Bible. I don’t believe in Jesus. I just believe in me, Yoko and me, that’s reality.” Lennon’s extremely popular song “Imagine” (1971) promotes atheism. The lyrics say: “Imagine there’s no heaven … No hell below us, above us only sky … no religion too/ You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one/ I hope some day you’ll join us, and the world will live as one.”

Psalm 58:3-5
“The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stopeth her ear; Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.”

The mongoose is a superb snake fighter. The little creature is about three feet long and weighs about ten pounds. In many parts of the world, a mongoose is kept as a house pet because they keep the snake population down. This includes some of the most poisonous snakes in the world.

One of the most amazing features of the mongoose is its ability to walk away from a snakebite. Even if a cobra bites a baby mongoose, the baby mongoose is not in the least affected by the venom. This is because the mongoose has venom antibodies in its bloodstream and nervous system. Scientists studying mongoose behavior have found that even a mongoose that has been raised by humans and has never seen a snake instinctively knows how to effectively attack and kill a snake on sight.

The mongoose’s size, shape and speed all show it to be perfectly designed for killing snakes. Its amazing ability to ignore snake venom and its internal programming that allows the mongoose to be an effective snake-killer and friend to man certainly shows the power and wisdom of the Creator. Now, if He can make a creature such as the mongoose to protect humans from earthly serpents, we know that He is also able to provide us with protection from that old serpent, the devil, through His Son, Jesus Christ!

In a message on January 30, Pope Francis said, “It is an absurd dichotomy to love Christ without the Church; to listen to Christ but not the Church ... Christ and the Church are united. ... Whenever Christ calls a person, He brings that person to the Church. ... it is good [that a child] comes to be baptized in the Mother Church. ... One by one, the Lord is calling us as well, to His people, into His family, our mother, the Holy Church. Let us think on these acts of Jesus. ... Part of membership in a community, is loyalty to others and loyalty to the hierarchy imposed by God. For this reason, we are called to love and obey the Church” (AsiaNews.it, Feb. 24, 2014, and Catholic Online Feb. 4, 2014). The Second Vatican Council proclaimed the following: “This is the sole Church of Christ which in the Creed we profess to be one, holy, catholic and apostolic, which our Saviour, after his resurrection, entrusted to Peter’s pastoral care. ... This Church, constituted and organized as a society in the present world, subsists in the Catholic Church, which is governed by the successor of Peter and by the bishops in communion with him” (Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, chap. 1, 8, p. 329).

Recent “ground-breaking research” into Neanderthal’s hyoid bone has concluded that “the Neanderthals may well have spoken in languages not dissimilar to the ones we use today” (“Talking Neanderthals Challenge the Origins of Speech,” Science Daily, Mar. 2, 2014). An international team of scientists using 3D x-ray imaging led by Stephen Wroe of the University of New England compared a “60,000 year-old Neanderthal hyoid bone” with those of “modern humans” and concluded “that in terms of mechanical behaviour, the Neanderthal hyoid was basically indistinguishable from our own, strongly suggesting that this key part of the vocal tract was used in the same way.” This is yet another example of Darwinian scientists debunking Darwinism. For most of the 20th century, beginning with the discovery of a nearly complete skeleton in France, Neanderthal was presented as a “missing link,” an ape-man, a prominent icon of human evolution. In 1909, Marcellin Boule reported to the French Academy of Sciences that Neanderthal walked pigeon-toed like an ape with a bent-knee shuffling gait and “must have possessed only a rudimentary psychic nature ... only the most rudimentary articulate language.” Boule repeated this in his 1957 book Fossil Men (p. 251). In 1930, Frederick Blaschke modeled a Neanderthal family in a cave setting, depicting them as stooped, half-clothed, clutching bones, and with very stupid expressions. This was set up as a permanent display in the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago and was copied in countless textbooks, encyclopedias, journals, popular magazines and newspapers, and museums. This is the view that prevailed for more than half a century. It was not science; it was myth-making. Since the 1970s, Neanderthal has had a gradual transformation. It is now admitted that Neanderthals had a sophisticated culture (cared for the sick and elderly, buried their dead, practiced religion), made and employed a wide variety of tools, used adhesive, attached points to wooden spears with leather thongs, made bone needles, constructed walled habitations with hearths for cooking and warmth, made ornaments and figures out of bone, ivory, and polished wood, and even played flutes with the same seven-note musical system found in western music (Marvin Lubenow, Bones of Contention, pp. 239-244, 254-257). Have evolutionists apologized for the error they perpetrated on the world? Not in the least. Not surprisingly, the Disney Channel is promoting homosexual “marriage” in its children’s programming. A recent episode of “Good Luck Charlie” featured a kid with two lesbian mothers. A Disney representative said, “This particular story line was developed under the consultancy of child development experts and community advisers. Like all Disney Channel programming, it was developed to be relevant to kids and families around the world and to reflect themes of diversity and inclusiveness” (“Taylor Has Two Moms,” The Blaze, Jan. 27, 2014). Michael Eisner left his wife and “married” a man in 1996, at a time when he owned a 60% stake in Disney. Disney World in Orlando, Florida, has an annual homosexual theme day during which cartoon characters Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck have been portrayed as homosexual lovers. Disney was considered wholesome family entertainment in its early decades, but it has long pushed a godless agenda. Walt Disney was a skeptic. Disneyland’s Main Street, which opened in 1955, had no church, even though there were churches on nearly every main street in America at the time. Walt Disney’s funeral was secular. Disney has long promoted magic and occultic mysticism as “innocent” entertainment even though God’s Word forbids involvement in such things in the strongest terms. Disney promotes the myth of white or good magic. In truth, all magic is of the devil and is under God’s judgment. The Disney movie Bedknobs and Broomsticks featured out-and-out witchcraft, including a spell from Ashtaroth, the ancient Canaanite fertility goddess that was such a stumblingblock to Israel and that resulted in the destruction of the Canaanite nations. Through its subsidiaries Miramax and Hollywood Pictures, Disney has published some of the filthiest fares, including full nudity (“The Color of Night”) and incest (“The House of Yes”).

1 Corinthians 2:5
“That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”

James Clerk Maxwell was a Scottish physicist and professor at King’s College, London, and then at Cambridge University. Albert Einstein said that Maxwell had made a greater contribution to physics than anyone except Isaac Newton. Maxwell developed complex theoretical and mathematical explanations for all the forces in the universe except gravity and nuclear forces. He also made scientific contributions in the fields of optics, thermodynamics and mathematics. In other words, Maxwell was a scientist of gigantic proportions who is still greatly respected by scientists today.

By today’s standards, however, Maxwell would be called a “fundamentalist.” Maxwell lived at the same time as Charles Darwin and was very much aware of Darwin’s theory of evolution. He felt strongly that the theory was anti-scientific and wrote a powerful and important refutation of evolutionary writings. He also offered a careful mathematical refutation of the theory that the solar system had evolved from a cloud of dust and gas.

The great scientist Maxwell believed that Jesus Christ is the Savior that God has provided to deliver man from the results of sin — including eternal death. A writing of his, found after his death, states that the motivation for his work was that God had created all things, just as Genesis says. And since God has created man in His image, scientific study is a fit activity for any person’s life work.

The United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child instructed Vatican officials to change its position on abortion and same sex “marriage” and to remove all “taboos surrounding adolescent sexuality” (“UN Report Attacks Catholic Church’s Teachings,” Breitbart, Feb. 5, 2014). The UN committee is charged with overseeing implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, a treaty that has been ratified by every country except the United States and Somalia. Catholic officials were “grilled” for eight hours, and since the Vatican ratified the treaty, it is only getting what it asked for. The issue here for the Bible believer is not the Catholic Church; it is the power of the United Nations and its New Age anti-christ thinking. Thankfully, the UN committee currently has no authority to enforce its recommendations, and steps are being taken to reduce its authority even more. “Member-states of the UN are in a multi-year process to reform this practice, and the overreaching of these committees is on the table for reform.”

John 8:56
“Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.”

Accepting that God created man, did He create a non-material part within him we call the soul as well as the familiar material body?  Of course, the Bible has a lot to say about man’s soul and that following a person’s death, the soul of the faithful will be with God in heaven. However, there are others who regard the idea of a soul as nothing more than a superstition.

Nobel Prize-winner Sir John Eccles probably knew more than any other scientist in the world about how the brain works. He came to the conclusion that man has a non-material part to himself – as he said, “a ghost in the machine that controls the brain.” The brain is seen as the interface between the material world and the non-material world. His unlikely ally was Sir Karl Popper, noted philosopher of science and agnostic who also concluded that man has a non-material part to him. Other influential scientists working on brain research agree and conclude that man has an important part of himself that science cannot study. Some scientists fully agree but accept some rather strange anti-biblical New Age ideas about man’s soul.

While many scientists have believed that man is a completely material creature with no spiritual nature, some of the most knowledgeable scientists in the world do not agree.

A rainbow flag flies over city hall in West Hollywood, California, and a new city logo featuring rainbow colors will be displayed on city vehicles and vehicles of sheriff’s deputies (“No Bias Here,” OneNewsNow, Feb. 13, 2014). Surveys show that the city is 40% “gay or lesbian,” and four of the five council members are homosexual. “And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed” (Luke 17:26-30).

Exodus 20:11
“For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.”

Just how good are those radiocarbon dates? When reporting an exciting archaeological discovery, popular science magazines tell the reader, for example, that some man-made artifact is 40,000 years old. A few years ago it was common to find tolerance figures such as plus or minus 1,500 years attached to these ages. These tolerance figures effectively leave an impression of objective precision in the mind of the reader. Those tolerance figures are seldom used today.

The radiocarbon method was developed in 1948 and at that time was believed to be the ultimate answer to the archaeologists’ dating problems. The method has not lived up to its promise, and today it is distrusted by the scientific community unless backed up by a second dating method. To give one example, when scientists carbon-dated a mammoth bone hide-scraper discovered in the Yukon, it was evident that man and mammoth lived at the same time, but it carbon-dated at 25,000 to 32,000 years old. However, this put man on the North American continent about 20,000 years before humans were supposed to have arrived here! Eventually, a second test method using a nuclear accelerator was used, and this dated the same piece of bone at only 2,000 years!

This example is common, and Bible-believing Christians should not be concerned that carbon-dated ages will in any way disprove the Bible.

The following is excerpted from “Syrian Christians,” The Times of Israel, Feb. 27, 2014. We know that the term “Christian” in the Middle East refers typically to some variety of sacramentalism, such as Catholicism or Orthodoxy, as opposed to biblical Christianity. This is obvious even from the Muslim demands in the following report. But these events are still acts of persecution and should concern every Bible believer. Following is the report: “Christian leaders in the northern Syrian city of Raqqa, captured by an organization formerly affiliated with al-Qaeda, have signed a submission document this week banning them from practicing Christianity in public in return for protection by their Islamist rulers. The document, dated Sunday and disseminated through Islamist Twitter accounts, states that the Christian community in the province of Raqqa, captured last March by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), was recently given three options: to convert to Islam; to remain Christian but pledge submission to Islam; or to ‘face the sword.’ They opted for the second of those choices, known as dhimmitude. ... According to classic Islamic law, Christians and Jews living under Muslim sovereignty must pay a tax known as jizya in return for the Muslim ruler’s protection, known as dhimma. ... In return, the Christians agreed to a list of conditions: to abstain from renovating churches or monasteries in Raqqa; not to display crosses or religious symbols in public or use loudspeakers in prayer; not to read scripture indoors loud enough for Muslims standing outside to hear; not to undertake subversive actions against Muslims; not to carry out any religious ceremonies outside the church; not to prevent any Christian wishing to convert to Islam from doing so; to respect Islam and Muslims and say nothing offensive about them; to pay the jizya tax worth four golden dinars for the rich, two for the average, and one for the poor, twice annually, for each adult Christian; to refrain from drinking alcohol in public; and to dress modestly.”

Genesis 1:21
“And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”

While the nautilus is a familiar sea creature that lives in a shell, it is actually more like the squid and the octopus. Like the squid and the octopus, the nautilus has a well-developed nervous system, mouth, eyes and tentacles and can swim backward quite rapidly by shooting jets of water. It also builds itself a shell home in which to live. As it grows, it needs a larger compartment within its shell, and it moves forward in its ever-widening shell and closes off the cramped quarters behind. But unlike the average shellfish, the nautilus leaves a fleshy tube of its body in the old “room.” This tube extends all the way back to the first room it occupied. This fleshy cord is used to make the shell buoyant by flooding chambers or forcing water out of them. The nautilus is a swimmer, not a crawler!

The living nautilus is found in the southwestern part of the Pacific and eastern Indian oceans and looks exactly like the fossil specimens of the nautilus found in those rock layers containing the earliest forms of life. There is absolutely no evidence of evolution here!

God’s creativity seems to be unlimited as we see more of the amazing ways He has chosen to design His creatures, and the nautilus is just one more example of God’s abilities.

“Americans’ attitudes toward the lives and choices of gays and lesbians have changed radically since Massachusetts first legalized same–sex marriage a decade ago. A new survey finds a significant shift toward tolerance across every religious, political and age group and every region of the country, said Robert P. Jones, CEO of the Public Religion Research Institute. PRRI’s survey, released Wednesday (Feb. 26), reveals the ramifications of these changes in family, church and community life. ‘Only the issue of marijuana looks anything like this in terms of rapid movement in favorability,’ Jones said. ‘But with that one exception, it’s unusual to see this much change in a relatively short amount of time.’ Overall support for same-sex marriage jumped 21 percentage points, from 32 percent in 2003 in a Pew Research survey to 53 percent in 2013 in PRRI’s survey. During this period, gay marriage became legal in 17 states and the District of Columbia and the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act that blocked federal recognition of legally wed gay couples. ... Within specific groups, the drop was less dramatic but still apparent: For white evangelical Protestants, the number fell from 84 percent to 78 percent; Black Protestants, down from 66 percent to 61 percent; Catholics, down from 65 percent to 53 percent; White mainline Protestants, down from 59 percent to 45 percent.”

“Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore has angered environmentalist groups after saying climate change is ‘not caused by humans’ and there is ‘no scientific proof’ to back global warming alarmism. ... ‘There is no scientific proof that human emissions of carbon dioxide are the dominant cause of the minor warming of the Earth’s atmosphere over the past 100 years,’ he told a US Senate Committee. ‘If there were such a proof, it would be written down for all to see. No actual proof, as it is understood in science, exists.’... The Greenpeace co-founder argued the increase in atmospheric temperature on the earth’s surface goes back to the Ice Age when C02 was ‘10 times higher than today, yet human life flourished’ at this time. ... Moore co-founded the environmental activist group as a PhD student in ecology in 1971. He left Greenpeace in 1986 after the group became more interested in ‘politics’ than science. ‘After 15 years in the top committee I had to leave as Greenpeace took a sharp turn to the political left, and began to adopt policies that I could not accept from my scientific perspective,’ he said. ‘Climate change was not an issue when I abandoned Greenpeace, but it certainly is now.’”

David Yonggi Cho, founder of Yoido Full Gospel Church in Seoul, long billed as the world’s largest church, was sentenced on February 20 to three years in prison for breach of trust and corruption (“David Yonggi Cho,” The Gospel Herald, Feb. 21, 2014). Cho was found guilty of causing $12 million in losses to the church by having officials buy stocks owned by his eldest son, Cho Hee-jun, at nearly four times market value. David Cho’s three-year sentence was suspended, but he was ordered to pay a penalty of US $4.7 million. Cho Hee-jun, was sentenced to three years (not suspended) for colluding with his father. In 2011, Cho was accused by 29 of the church’s elders of embezzling US $20 million. Cho’s numerical “success” made him one of the world’s most influential preachers in this pragmatism-crazed generation. He has moved freely in “evangelical” circles and has been promoted by men such as Southern Baptist pastor Rick Warren, Peter Wagner of Fuller Theological Seminary, Bill Hybels of the Willowcreek, and Elmer Towns, co-founder with Jerry Falwell of Liberty University. Cho claims that he received the call to preach directly and personally from Jesus, who appeared to him dressed like a fireman (Dictionary of Pentecostal and Charismatic Movements). Cho says that God promises healing and prosperity for every believer. In fact, this is part of his “five-fold gospel.” As of 2005, 279 of the Yoido Full Gospel Church’s 527 pastors were women. In his book The Fourth Dimension, Cho taught a Word-Faith heresy called “the Law of Incubation.” He claimed that believers can create reality by forming a precise mental picture of a goal, then speaking it into existence, though it appears that this “law” isn't working too well for him these days. In the 1988 edition of The Healing Epidemic, Dr. Peter Masters, senior pastor of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England, warned: “What has built the largest church in the world? The answer is, an idolatrous mixture of biblical teaching and pagan mind-techniques. ... This is the kind of church which has moved hordes of impressionable Christian teachers the world over to jump on to the healing-prophesying bandwagon. We need to take very great care in these days.”

In 1969 Dr. Dean Kenyon, then professor of biology at San Francisco State University, published a book that left him recognized as one of the leading evolutionary scientists. His book, Biological Predestination, tried to explain how simple living things could, over millions of years, become more complex, and finally evolve into human beings.

When Dr. A.E. Wilder-Smith, a biochemist with a world-wide reputation and a creationist, wrote his book, The Creation of Life, he carefully showed what was scientifically wrong with Dr. Kenyon’s evolutionary explanation. One day, one of Dr. Kenyon’s students gave him a copy of Dr. Wilder-Smith’s book.

After reading Wilder-Smith’s scientific arguments, Dr. Kenyon said, “I found myself hard-pressed to come up with a counter-rebuttal.” This was a turning point in Dr. Kenyon’s personal search, as he learned that “it is possible to have a rational alternative explanation of the past.” Dr. Kenyon came to believe that creation better supported all the scientific facts. He eventually became an international spokesman for creationism.

Too many people stand before the truth in silence, hoping they won’t have to give up their own ideas. May God make all of us as honest with the truth as Dr. Kenyon!

Luke 8:8
“And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.”

The electron microscope was developed over 80 years ago and enables us to probe the secrets of God’s creation. One of the most surprising discoveries shows an incredible similarity between those little whips called flagellum – which some microbes use for swimming – and the inside of your ear!

The electron microscope has shown that there is but one master pattern for all flagella. These tiny threads are always made up of a pair of fibers surrounded by nine protein fibers running inside a tube. It is thought that the contraction of these protein fibers causes the flagellum to move. But though these tiny structures are identical, different creatures use them in different ways.

Inside your ear and the ears of all vertebrates are tiny, hair-like structures that come together in a point, something like an Indian tepee. Each of these structures has on it one projection exactly the same as the microbes’ flagellum. But in this case, its purpose is not to move, but to be moved by sound waves. These structures are hooked up to nerves, and their purpose is to detect sound waves. They are so sensitive, they can provide your brain with many different kinds of information, all of which you finally hear as sound!

Pope Francis is fulfilling Bible prophecy with his broad ecumenical vision. According to Revelation 17, Roman Catholicism is at the heart of the one-world religion that will yoke together with the Antichrist. Only Rome could fit the bill as the city on seven hills, and only Catholicism is clothed in purple and scarlet, has a golden cup in her hand, and is drunken with the blood of the martyrs. But the vision of Revelation 17 extends beyond Rome. The Harlot is a mother who has daughters and her reach is global (Rev. 17:15). Ecumenism has been “in the air” since the great world missionary conferences of the turn of the 20th century and the Second Vatican Council of the 1960s. Francis is standing on the shoulders of popes such as John XXIII (who headed up Vatican II) and John Paul II (the personable jet-setting pope who was beloved of a long line of evangelicals led by Billy Graham). Francis is calling for unity among all Christians. And he is calling for unity with Jews. This month, when he received a delegation of the American Jewish Committee, he said that Catholics and Jews must work together “for a more just and fraternal world” (“Pope: Jews and Catholics,” AsiaNews.it, Feb. 13, 2014). Francis is even calling for unity with atheists. Last year he said, “The Lord has redeemed all of us, all of us, with the Blood of Christ: all of us, not just Catholics. ... Even the atheists! Everyone! ... And this commandment for everyone to do good, I think, is a beautiful path towards peace” (“Pope at Mass,” Vatican Radio, May 22, 2013). For his part, John Paul II included all of the world religions in the ecumenical vision, yoking multiple times with Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, Sikhs, Bahai’s, Animists, etc. in prayer for world peace in Assisi, Italy.

Romans 1:25
“Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.”

In 1866, Professor Ernst Haeckel, a German zoologist and strong supporter of Darwin, published his theory that every developing embryo recapitulates all the previous evolutionary stages of its species. So the human embryo began as a fish with gills, then became frog-like, and so on until at the ninth month it was fully human. The real embryologists of his day investigated Haeckel’s claims and discovered that he had faked some of his drawings to fit his theory! That should have been the end of Haeckel’s theory then and there.

Unfortunately, the theory became more important than the facts in the minds of Darwin’s followers, and it has been paraded as prima facie evidence for evolution in every school biology textbook since 1866! The facts are that this theory was discredited and rejected decades ago by the scientific community while even the Encyclopedia Britannica wrote the theory off as being of “little significance.” 
   
Only recently, after exposure of this anti-scientific idea by creationists, have some textbooks now stopped using embryology as evidence for evolution. Nevertheless, it continues to be used as “scientific” justification for abortion, and this, too, needs to be exposed to the light of God’s truth.

Anglican Episcopal Bishop Anthony Palmer, who has joined the pope in calling for Christian unity and condemning “division,” claims that the issue of justification has been settled and that Rome has agreed that justification is by grace alone. Therefore, there is no reason for further disunity. The protest is over, he says; there should be no more “protestants”; all Christians should be “catholics”; there should be one “church.” If the issue were not so serious with such terrible eternal ramifications, this position would be laughable. Palmer is referring to the 1999 Joint Declaration of Justification that was signed by the Vatican and some Lutheran denominations and has since been accepted by some Methodists. The declaration states, “Together we confess: by grace alone, in faith in Christ’s saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.”

FIRST, PALMER IS WRONG ABOUT ROME’S DOCTRINE OF SALVATION.

The Joint Declaration on Justification doesn't mean that the Roman Catholic Church no longer preaches salvation through sacraments! Rome has a genius for giving theological words new meanings. She is a chameleon who has changed colors countless times. In the current debate, she has redefined “grace” and “alone” and “justification.” She is an ecclesiastical example of a naughty little boy telling a lie with his fingers’ crossed behind his back, and the apostate Protestants sitting at her table don’t know or care. In the Council of Trent and the Second Vatican Council and the New Catholic Catechism, Rome stated her doctrine of salvation in the clearest of terms: salvation is by faith in Christ PLUS sacraments. Salvation was purchased by Christ and given to the “church” to be distributed through the sacraments, and it begins with baptismal regeneration. SECOND, PALMER IS WRONG ABOUT THE ESSENCE OF THE REFORMATION.

Insofar as it went (and it fell terribly short of being Scriptural), the essence of the Reformation was about the authority of Scripture -- sola scriptura. And the Roman Catholic Church is not even pretending that Scripture is the sole authority for its faith and practice. For this essential fact to be ignored shows the duplicity of the unity movement.

THIRD, PALMER IS WRONG ABOUT THE BASIS FOR UNITY.

Even if two professing Christians or churches agree on the doctrine of salvation, that is far from being a sufficient basis for unity in fellowship and ministry. We are commanded to earnestly contend for the faith once delivered to the saints (Jude 3). What part of the faith? All of it! We are to mark and avoid those whose teaching is contrary to the doctrine which we have learned from Scripture (Rom. 16:17). Even if one accepts the philosophy of “essential” vs. “non-essential” doctrine, there are still dozens of “essential” doctrines that would form the basis for separation. We are to prove ALL things, not just some things (1 Thess. 5:21). Paul taught Timothy to allow “no other doctrine” into the churches (1 Tim. 1:3). This is not a complicated matter. The bottom line is that it is impossible to join any unity movement today while being faithful to God’s Word.

Matthew 5:37
“But let your communication be, Yea, Yea; Nay, Nay: For whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.”

It is a common perception that scientists are totally objective and impartial in their search for the truth. If a scientist says so, it must be true! Even among themselves, leaders of their field are jokingly referred to as the “high priests of science.”

But many scientists will willingly admit that they are just as fallible and just as prone to bias or even dishonesty as anyone else. The 19th century scientist – Charles Babbage (a creationist by the way) – did an analytical study of the problem of fraud in science. He found that there are three basic types. Scientists can and do record observations that never took place. A second type of fraud is to ignore those observations that don’t fit the average. A third type is called “cooking” – where only the data that fits the expectations is used and the rest discarded. Scientists today are under pressure to resort to any of these forms of fraud to continue to obtain research grants, or maintain status before their peers.

All this means that scientists are just as human and prone to the same motivations in their work as the rest of us. Not all scientists are frauds, just as not all car mechanics are dishonest. But science is not some open door to absolute truth. Nor can it judge the truth of God’s Holy Word.

The Kenneth Copeland conference in which the pope’s video call for unity was shown is a petri dish for the examination of the end-time one-world “church.” All of the elements were there. There was the contemporary worship music. There was the charismatic focus on feeling and experience. There was the “unity in diversity.” There was the rejection of biblical separatism and the labeling of it as “diabolical.” And there was Rome, showing the most humble, innocent, spiritually-passionate, and harmless of her many faces.

Amos 8:11
“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.”

The thorny acacia tree is not the usual food of the Kudu antelope. But because of overcrowding on game farms, the antelope began eating the leaves of this tree. Eventually, the kudu starved to death, even though there were plenty of acacia leaves to eat. Scientists learned that when antelope feed on the acacia,the tree begins to produce a chemical called tannin. The tannin combines with other chemicals to give the leaves a bad taste. But worse for the antelope, the tannin impairs their ability to digest food, and eventually they starve to death. Scientists found that while tannin is not normally found in high concentrations in acacia leaves, within 15 minutes of leaf damage, the tannin levels in the leaves nearly double. They also found that the trees warn other trees about browsing animals in the area. When a leaf is chewed, it releases a scent that causes neighboring acacia trees to begin to produce tannin!

There is a spiritual lesson in this: In those places of the world where Bibles are easily available, Bible reading is decreasing. It is primarily where Bibles are hard to get that people appreciate the power of God’s Word. God has provided us with plenty of food for our souls. Let’s not overfeed on the world’s food and starve the soul by neglecting God’s Word.
