While evolutionists can't explain how life originated, they have proposed theories of how inorganic matter became biological molecules. Each of these theories requires the assumption that the Earth had no oxygen in its atmosphere when life first began. Oxygen would destroy the chemistry they propose.

However, Neil Phillips, an Australian geologist, has discovered iron oxide in South Africa. The iron oxide was discovered in rock layers that are dated to a time long before the first appearance of life, according to evolutionary theory. The form of iron oxide he found, pisoliths, are only known to form in the presence of oxygen. Based on his study, Phillips has concluded that the Earth has had enough oxygen in its atmosphere to react with geological features since the beginning of geological history. That's enough oxygen to destroy any of the products of the chemistry evolutionists have proposed for the origin of life.

Part of the scientific power of any model of origins is its ability to predict what kind of evidence to look for. The creation model says that there was air-breathing life within the first week that Earth's geology existed. The discovery of iron oxide in the most ancient rocks is no surprise to those who accept creation.

The recent “March for Marriage” rally in Washington, D.C. reveals the problem with ecumenical social-justice projects from a biblical viewpoint. The rally, sponsored by the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), drew an estimated 36,000 people. Humanly speaking, the cause is commendable, but the method does not have God’s blessing in that it operates in direct disobedience to His Word. Prominent in the rally were representatives of the Roman Catholic Church and other heretical churches, including San Francisco Catholic Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone. We are glad that Cordileone had the courage to stand up for traditional marriage and against “same-sex marriage” in this very public forum in the face of the vicious mocking and threats of homosexual activists and demands by Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D) that he stay away. But God’s Word forbids me to join hands with him or any other church leader who holds to false doctrine. I am to “reject them,” “avoid them,” and “turn away” from them (Titus 3:10-11; Rom. 16:17; 2 Tim. 3:5). That has nothing to do with hate; it is obedience to God’s Word. The presence of “evangelicals” such as Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council is evidence of the spiritual rebellion that characterizes most churches today, even those that claim to believe the Bible. The National Organization for Marriage is part of the problem, not the solution. The only real solution for America’s problems is a serious spiritual revival in Bible-believing churches. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Ch. 7:14).

On May 30 we published a report about Crosslight Church of Singapore and its contemporary music and its recommendation by prominent independent Baptist preachers, including Jack Trieber, Eric Capaci, and Robert Meyer and Don Sisk of BIMI. We included a photo from Crosslight’s web site of the contemporary worship team, including a long-haired guitar player and a female singer in tights, which is as sensual and immodest as any fashion. When we invited feedback on this issue in 2007 while writing the book Dressing for the Lord, most of the men who contacted us indicated that tight clothing holds “a very great potential” for lust. One man said: “I would say the number one problem is any garment that is form fitting, be it jeans, pants, skirt, dress, shirt, whatever. Anything that is tight, no matter how long it is, leaves nothing to the imagination, and that defeats the whole purpose of covering the skin in the first place!” A worship team like Chhin’s is used for only one purpose, and that is to perform contemporary music. Another photo at the web site shows Pastor Chhin’s wife with her hand raised exactly after the fashion of female worship leader Darlene Zschech. This is a charismatic practice that has no support in Scripture. 1 Timothy 2 instructs MEN, not women, to raise holy hands. The practice of raising hands in contemporary worship reflects its goal of “experiencing God.” The hands are raised to channel the Spirit. We have documented the experience orientation of contemporary worship in the new book Independent Baptist Music Wars. I have no doubt that Chhin’s wife is doing this in ignorance, but she needs to study the background to contemporary praise music and not be swept along with its error. In response to the report, Chhin wrote to one preacher on about June 17 and said, “No. We are not a contemporary church. No. We do not have a female worship leader. No. We do not have a rock-n-roll church. No. We are not charismatic. No. We do not sway and dance. No we do not have drums.” No one said that they have drums or that they have a female worship leader or that they are charismatic, but they most definitely play soft rock music with electrified guitars and they sway and they use contemporary worship music. A Singapore Baptist pastor wrote to me as follows in regard to those who doubt Chhin’s contemporary style: “They just need to google the words of the song behind his wife in the photo and find the name of the group that recorded that song [‘Hallelujah you have won the victory’ by Planetshakers]. I went on Youtube to listen to the song and it told me everything I needed to know. It just takes 30 seconds of work to do all this. People need to stop being lazy. BIMI [who claims to be looking into the issue] should send people down to Chhin’s sending church [Gospel Light Baptist Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas, pastored by Eric Capaci] and attend a worship service and or join their youth outings and find out what ‘christian’ concerts they attend. The Singapore church that wanted to merge with Chhin’s church had him come over to conduct ONE service and they were shocked. Many tried to retract their decision.” I've discovered that the use of contemporary music by independent Baptist churches is often accompanied by a lying, compromising spirit that affects the entire ministry.

Albert Einstein said that James Clerk Maxwell made greater contributions to physics than anyone except Isaac Newton.

Maxwell developed complex theoretical and mathematical explanations for all the forces in the universe except gravity and nuclear forces. He also made scientific contributions in the fields of thermodynamics and mathematics. In other words, Maxwell was a scientist of gigantic proportions who remains greatly respected today.

By today’s standards, Maxwell would be called a “fundamentalist.” Maxwell lived at the same time as Charles Darwin and was very aware of evolutionary theory. He felt strongly that evolution was anti scientific and wrote a powerful and important refutation of evolutionary writings. He also offered a very careful mathematical refutation of the theory that the solar system had evolved from a cloud of dust and gas.

The great scientist Maxwell believed that Jesus Christ is the Savior that God has provided to deliver humanity from the results of sin – including eternal death. A writing of his, found after his death, states that the motivation for his work was that God had created all things just as Genesis says. And since God has created humans in His image, scientific study is a fit activity for one’s lifework.

Proverbs 2:6

If Isaac Newton or someone else had never made the discoveries Newton made, our world would be very different today. He is one of the most important scientists in all of history. What many people don’t know is that this great scientist was a creationist. He actually wrote more Bible commentaries than he did scientific papers.

Newton is best known for his discoveries of the law of universal gravitation and the three laws of motion. Newton also built the first reflecting telescope, and he developed calculus into the branch of mathematics it is today. He also researched the nature of light and explained how white light is made up of many different colors.

Newton was an avid student of the Bible and wrote papers defending Bishop Ussher’s dating of the earth at about 6,000 years. He also defended the literal six day creation. Although Newton did not personally accept the doctrine of the Trinity, he did take on the atheists of his day, offering strong defenses for the biblical view of history. He was one of the first creation scientists to suggest that most of the sedimentary rocks of the earth are the result of the Genesis Flood.

Next time you hear someone say that science and the Bible don’t mix, think of Sir Isaac Newton.

“Southern Baptist leaders voted overwhelmingly on Tuesday to affirm the biblical model of human sexuality, agreeing that gender identity is solely determined by biological sex and not by ‘one’s self-perception.’ ... While many claim that a person’s gender can differ from one’s sexuality, the Southern Baptists declared just the opposite in a resolution titled ‘On Transgender Identity.’ ‘God’s design was the creation of two distinct and complementary sexes, male and female, which designate the fundamental distinction that God has embedded in the very biology of the human race,’ the resolution states in part. ‘The messengers to the Southern Baptist Convention meeting in Baltimore, Maryland, June 10–11, 2014, affirm God’s good design that gender identity is determined by biological sex and not by one’s self-perception--a perception which is often influenced by fallen human nature in ways contrary to God’s design,’ the resolution continues. The resolution also exhorts Christians to unashamedly proclaim the biblical perspective on human sexuality. ‘Our love for the Gospel and urgency for the Great Commission must include declaring the whole counsel of God, proclaiming what Scripture teaches about God’s design for us as male and female persons created in His image and for His glory,’ it says. ... Supporters of ‘transgenderism’ swiftly condemned the Southern Baptists’ resolution, describing it as discriminatory and oppressive. ‘The [Southern Baptist] denomination wants to have it both ways, welcoming in everyone, and yet denying the realities of their lives,’ Ross Murray, a spokesman for the pro-homosexual organization GLAAD, wrote yesterday. ‘Instead of listening to transgender people, it chose to define them as other and oppose their ability to live full and productive lives.’”

Ephesians 2:10

We often hear today that no true scientists are creationists because science disproves creation. The truth is, most of the founders of the various disciplines of modern science were creationists, as are a great many scientists today.

One of the most famous scientists of all time was Robert Boyle. Boyle, who lived at the close of the 17th century, did pioneering work in both chemistry and physics. Perhaps you are familiar with “Boyle’s Law,” which relates the pressure, temperature and volume of gas. “Boyle’s Law” is studied by every high school student today.

Boyle was also a completely dedicated Christian. He contributed a great deal of his money to the work of translating the Bible into languages that did not yet have the Scriptures. Boyle was also very concerned about those who, in his own day, thought science could prove the Bible wrong. These people were the forerunners of modern evolutionists. In order to combat this idea in science, Boyle, with others, founded the Royal Society of London as one of the earliest modern creationist organizations. He also funded the famous “Boyle Lectures” in his will, stipulating that these lectures were to offer scientific viewpoints that upheld the truth of the Bible.

Boyle called science a religious task that has the job of learning more about the workmanship of the Creator.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), which is taking over large chunks of territory from Syria to Iraq and aims to establish a Muslim empire or caliphate, has a new song on the Internet. The video song features English subtitles with the following lyrics: “The Islamic state has been established, so wipe out all the borders. Wherever our wars goes, Jewish rabbis are humiliated. Oh soldiers of Truth, let’s go. ... Break the crosses and destroy the lineage of the grandsons of monkeys. .... Oh soldiers of Truth, let’s go” (“Video Calls to ‘Break the Crosses,’” Memri TV, June 2, 2014). ISIS is so vicious and “extreme” that al Qaeda’s leader Ayman al-Zawahiri has disavowed them.

John 18:38a
“Pilate saith unto him, What is truth?”

How do you know that what you think you know is really true? Charles Darwin wondered just that, and the answer to his question sheds a lot of light on the origins debate today.

Since Darwin had no formal training in science, he made his case for evolution from philosophy, not from science. Philosophy and theology, after all, was the area in which he was trained. This background led him to ask a very important question. In Darwin’s own words, “…the horrid doubt always arises whether the convictions of man’s mind, which was developed from the mind of lower animals, are of any value or at all trustworthy. Would anyone trust in the convictions of a monkey’s mind, if there were any convictions in such a mind?”

In other words, what Darwin was saying was that if his theory was true, it was the product of a mind not much greater than a monkey’s. And who, including Darwin himself, could trust such a mind? The only way in which human thoughts might be separated far above the animals is if creation is true. Either way, the logical conclusion of Darwin’s puzzle is that creation is true and evolution is untrustworthy!

It is no accident that as the teaching that man came from lower animals has grown, the number of people who act like animals has also grown. Darwin’s own statement seems to show the twisted logic that results from evolution.

Joel Osteen, pastor of America’s largest church, was part of an ecumenical contingent that met with Pope Francis at the Vatican last week. Members of the party included Senator Mike Lee, a Mormon. The meeting was arranged by The International Foundation, which is the chief organizer of the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. The Vatican meeting was “part of Pope Francis’ on-going efforts to bring unity among Christians” (“Pastor Joel Osteen,” Christian Post, June 7, 2014). Pentecostal Joel Osteen told the Houston Chronicle that he was honored and humbled to visit the Vatican. “You feel that deep respect and reverence for God,” he said. “I like the fact that this pope is trying to make the church larger, not smaller. He’s not pushing people out but making the church more inclusive. That resonated with me.” The next day, the busy pope met with Jewish, Muslim, and Druze leaders: including Israeli president Shimon Peres and Palestinian president Abu Mazen. For the first time in history, Islamic prayers and readings from the Quran were made at the Vatican (“Islamic Prayers to Be Held at Vatican,” Al Arabiya News, June 6, 2014). The building of the one-world church is progressing, but the devil’s plan (“the mystery of iniquity”) is under God’s ultimate control (“he who now letteth will let,” 2 Thessalonians 2:7), and prayer changes things in God’s universe. He who knows the beginning and the end and works all things according to His own will takes man’s actions and prayers into consideration. In an ancient time of apostasy, one man’s prayers accomplished mighty things. “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit” (James 5:16-18).

Genesis 3:8
“And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees in the garden.”

Most creationists are pro life because they see conception and birth as one of the clearest evidences of God’s original role as Creator. Scripture is filled with examples showing that God not only created the heavens and earth in six days, just as reported in several places in Scripture, but that He is still intimately involved with His creation.

In other words, God did not create the heavens and earth and then leave the earth to spin off on its own in space on automatic pilot as mindless natural laws took over. This means that there is no such thing as chance. Can birth defects, therefore, be ascribed to God’s will?

The Bible also tells us that God created a perfect creation, with no sin, death or defect of any sort. It was we humans who changed the creation when we sinned by abandoning God. He never left us. Unfortunately, our sinful condition brings its own results – including more sin, genetic defects and death. Jesus’ disciples once asked Him about a man born blind, “Master who did sin, this man or his parents?” Jesus’ answer shows us God’s intimate involvement in human life. He told the disciples that the man was born blind to show forth the works of God. Then Jesus miraculously healed his blindness.

There is no worse thing for us than sin and its results now and forever. But the lesson is if we allow God, our Creator, to work, there is nothing so evil that it cannot, in His hands, show forth His mighty works!

Kenneth Berding, a professor of New Testament at Biola University’s Talbot School of Theology, warns that there is a crisis of biblical illiteracy in America. He says, “I've heard people call it a famine. A famine of knowing the Bible! ... Christians used to be known as ‘people of one book.’ Sure, they read, studied and shared other books. But the book they cared about more than all others combined was the Bible. They memorized it, meditated on it, talked about it and taught it to others. We don’t do that anymore, and in a very real sense we’re starving ourselves to death. ... Does this sound overly alarmist to you? People who have studied the trends don’t think so. ... These days many of us don’t even know basic facts about the Bible. I remember a student--not a new believer--who asked a question after class about Saul’s conversion in Acts 9. She wanted to know whether this was the same Saul who was king over Israel. ... When I was teaching at a college in New York, I assigned each student to write a biographical sketch of an Old Testament character. I came across the following line in a paper about the Old Testament figure Joshua: ‘Joshua was the son of a nun.’... All the research indicates that biblical literacy in America is at an all-time low. My own experience teaching a class of new college freshman every year for the past 15 years suggests to me that although students 15 years ago knew little about the Bible upon entering my classes, today’s students on average know even less” (Kenneth Berding, “The Crisis of Biblical Illiteracy,” Biola Magazine, Spring 2014). This is a frightful window into the condition of evangelical churches. It is not solid Bible Christianity. It is a shallow thing that is a mile wide and an inch deep. It is a worldly thing. Young people in the average church know far more about, and are far more passionate about, social media and professional sports and R-rated movies and video games and rock & roll than about the Bible. They are disciples of the sensual pop culture, not disciples of Jesus Christ, because “no man can serve two masters.” And this is not a problem that is limited to “evangelicals” and Southern Baptists. Biblical illiteracy is a major problem among fundamental Baptists.

Homosexual tourism is booming in the land of the Bible. This year’s “gay pride parade” in Tel Aviv was expected to draw 120,000 attendees. TLV1, the city’s English-language internet radio station, calls Tel Aviv “the ultimate gay city” and Israel “one of the most gay-friendly countries in the world” (“Pink Tourism in Tel Aviv,” TLV1fm, June 10, 2014). As a “show of solidarity with LGBT Israelis,” the American Embassy in Tel Aviv flew a “Gay Pride” rainbow flag last week below the U.S. flag. “So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them” (Ezekiel 37:7-8).

September 2014 begins the sabbath year, and it is another example of how that modern Israel sits in unbelief and disregards God’s law. Moses required that the land rest every seventh year (Leviticus 25:1-7). It was a sabbath “for the Lord” (Lev. 25:4). It was a way for the Lord’s people to honor Him in a seemingly difficult matter. It allowed the land to rest (Lev. 25:5). It was a test of faith (Lev. 25:18-22). If the people obeyed, God promised to bless the increase of the sixth year so that it would provide their needs for that year, for the seventh year of rest, and for the eighth year until the crops from the planting in the eighth year could be gathered. Faith believes and obeys God’s Word (Rom. 10:17). Israel of old didn't trust God for the sabbath year, and that was one of the reasons for the 70 year captivity (2 Ch. 36:21). Today Israel pursues a variety of clever policies rather than simply obeying and trusting God. Some look to the government to help them from a $29 million fund. Some play a Pharisee-type shell game by “selling” their land to a non-Jew for a year. “As the biblical command refers to ‘your land,’ the paper transfer of ownership exempts both the land and the food grown on it, allowing agricultural operations to continue largely unhindered and unchanged” (“Israeli Farmers to Give Fields a Rest,” WorldNetDaily, June 10, 2014). Others place their lands under a public body that hires outsiders to do the work and distribute the harvest to the community. All of these are ways of disobeying God’s Word. Israel is not waiting for Christ; Israel is waiting for Antichrist, who will enable them to build the Third Temple so that he can set himself up therein as God.

Romans 1:25
“Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.”

In 1866, a German scientist and strong supporter of Darwin, Ernst Haeckel, got into trouble for faking evidence. He supposedly showed that developing embryos go through the earlier evolutionary stages of their species. The scientific community investigated his so called discovery and found that he had faked his drawings. Unfortunately, some textbooks today – well over a century later – still present this faked evidence in support of evolution.

As a result, many people today still believe this false scientific theory. One of the most widely used “evidences” used to support this idea today is the claim that the developing human fetus has “gill slits” at one point in its development. In fact, a United States ambassador used this argument in support of abortion in an issue of National Review.

The truth is, the developing fetus has folds of skin around its neck that contain the developing organs found in the neck. These folds have nothing in common with gills. While no scientist today accepts this theory – and it is even refuted in most encyclopedias – it can still be found in textbooks used by high school students! Why? It would seem that few scientists have the courage to challenge this idea they know is wrong because it might make them appear to oppose evolution! But even worse is that this anti scientific idea continues to be used as a “scientific” justification for abortion.

Yes, it’s true. The wrong view on origins can result in some disastrous “science” as well as human suffering!

“All of us have heard that the Grand Canyon was carved out of solid rock by the slow movement of water in the Colorado River. But does this really make any sense at all? Have there been any observations that can suggest that the trickle (in comparison) of the Colorado River can carve through solid rock while mighty rivers like the Mississippi or the Amazon don't carve anything of the sort? And I don't recall the river beds of those rivers being solid rock. So what does the science show? It favors lots of water over a short period of time. It does NOT point to a little water over a very long period of time. And for the record, it is the science based off studying Noah's Flood that has made us understand this. This is more evidence that the Bible had it right from the beginning. Many major science discoveries were founded simply by reading the Bible. The one that stands out the most for me is Matthew Maury’s discovery of the ocean currents. He read the Psalms which talks about the currents ... and he found them, just as the Bible said. We are still waiting for science to catch up to the Bible. I’m sure we'll be waiting quite a while.”

2 Samuel 22:31
“As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.”

Have you ever been in a cave? If you have, perhaps someone has told you that the rock formations hanging from the ceiling – called stalactites – are thousands or even tens of thousands of years old. Scientists tell us that stalactites take 100 years, on the average, to grow one inch. But just how accurate is this figure?

Stalactites grow where water seeps through limestone rock, dissolving limestone in the process. When this water, containing dissolved limestone, emerges from the roof of a cave, it hangs for a moment. In a current of air, some of it evaporates, causing the limestone to deposit. Finally, the remaining water drops to the floor of the cave and continues to evaporate and deposit. The deposit on the floor is called a stalagmite.

A concrete railroad bridge in Wooster, Ohio had a stalactite growing under it that was over 12 inches long! Had the railroad bridge been standing for more than 1,200 years? Obviously not – in fact, the bridge had been cleaned of stalactites only 12 years before! Nor is this situation unusual. More than 300 stalactites were counted growing under bridges in just this one city, and stalactites are not hard to find under concrete bridges in most cities.

We take so many things at face value that evolutionists tell us about the world, even if they contradict the Bible. Before we start taking human words on faith, we should take at face value what the Creator says in the Bible. He knows more than all scientists put together and is to be trusted above any human teacher!

Did you know that the actual dust on the surface of the moon is thousands of times less than expected by those who think the Earth is billions of years old?

All of us know that if something has a lot of dust on it, it probably hasn't been cleaned in a long time. If something has very little dust on it, it may have just been cleaned – or it might be brand new. Since there is no such thing as a moon cleaner, if our moon doesn't have much dust on it, it must be fairly new.

Before American astronauts landed on the moon in 1969, space scientists were worried that a moon landing would be impossible. By that time scientists knew how much dust there was in space, and they knew how fast this dust would accumulate on the moon. Since they figured that the moon was more than 3 billion years old, they reckoned that there could be as much as 150 feet of soft dust on the moon – so deep and so soft that a manned lander might sink into the dust and never be heard from again. For this reason they designed the lunar lander with large pads to support the machine on the soft dust.

But we all know what happened – there wasn't even enough dust to plant the American flag. The flagpole had to be supported with rocks! This is exactly what creation scientists told them they would find, since the moon has been accumulating dust for only a few thousand years and not billions or even trillions of years!

“A family owned bakery has been ordered to make wedding cakes for gay couples and guarantee that its staff be given comprehensive training on Colorado’s anti-discrimination laws after the state’s Civil Rights Commission determined the Christian baker violated the law by refusing to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple. Jack Phillips, the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop, in Lakewood, Colorado was directed to change his store policies immediately and force his staff to attend the training sessions. For the next two years, Phillips will also be required to submit quarterly reports to the commission to confirm that he has not turned away customers based on their sexual orientation. ... Nicolle Martin, an attorney with Alliance Defending Freedom, called the ruling Orwellian and said they are considering an appeal. ... Phillips, who is celebrating his 40th year in business this week, told me he's not going to create any new policies. ‘My old ones are pretty adequate as far as I’m concerned,’ he said. ‘I don't plan on giving up my faith and changing because of that.’... ‘My God is bigger than any bullies they've got,’ he said. ‘I don't worry about it. I honor my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and be true to what He wants me to do.’ And the Civil Rights Commission is going to have a mighty hard time trying to ‘rehabilitate’ Phillips and his staff. ‘My 87-year-old mom works here and she says she's not being rehabilitated,’ he said. ... And should the highest court in the land force Jack to do the bidding of homosexuals? ‘There’s civil disobedience,’ Phillips told me. ‘We’ll see what happens. I’m not giving up my faith. Too many people have died for this faith to give it up that easily.’ Meanwhile, the bullying tactics of the militant gay rights community have not hampered the bakery’s bottom line. They've gotten so much business from the sales of cookies and brownies; they've temporarily stopped making wedding cakes. ‘Obey Christ rather than worry about what man can do to you,’ Phillips said.”

Psalm 10:4-5
“The wicked, through the pride of his proud countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. His ways are always grievous; thy judgements are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.”

The subject of scientific dating has to do with scientific methods used to try to figure out how old the Earth is. However, you should know that what evolutionary scientists aren't telling you about their methods changes the whole picture!

You see, there are over 100 different methods that may be used to date the Earth or the universe. For example, if we measure the amount of dissolved aluminum in the oceans and then measure the rate at which aluminum is being carried into the oceans by the world’s rivers, we can scientifically “prove” that the Earth is not more than 100 years old! Now, that “scientific” finding is silly. The truth is, there are half a dozen scientific methods for dating the age of the Earth that “prove” that it is 1,000 years old or less. Fewer than a dozen methods show that the Earth is over 1 billion years old!

When mathematicians encounter such a wide range of results, especially when some of the results at the extremes of the range are clearly wrong, they begin to eliminate equal numbers of results at both ends of the extreme. If we do that with the results of modern scientific methods, no method would be left that shows the Earth to be much more than 100 million years.

The most amazing things is that fully 15 percent of all the dating methods cluster around an age for the Earth of between 6,000 and 10,000 years. So the scientific evidence, fairly considered, fits in very nicely with the age for the Earth of around 6,000 years that is found in the Bible.

As for the idea that we should be free from being offended, if the government enforces that principle, then freedom of religion and freedom of speech and freedom of the press will cease to exist for everyone. One non-Christian who understands this is Terry Sanderson, president of England’s National Secular Society, who made the following comment about Attleborough Baptist Church’s “hell sign.” “[We fought] a long battle of freedom of speech together with Christian groups because we believe that freedom of speech is essential to a functioning society. If you don’t give it to everybody then it isn't free speech and as long as they aren't inciting violence or trying to get people to do things that are against the law then I think it is acceptable to say whatever you want to say.’ Mr Sanderson added that if he felt uncomfortable with the sign, he would put up one himself--and said that police activity over the message was equivalent to ‘banning the Bible’” (“Police investigate Attleborough church ‘hate incident,” Wymondham and Attleborough Mercury, June 9, 2014). It appears that the British government is determined to ban the Bible through its “hate crimes” legislation, and this is the result of the nation’s apostasy. Only fervent prayer-driven revival will change things. “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16).

“And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth: And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters: And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.”

We have all heard or read about a scientist from some university declaring that a certain rock or fossil is millions of years old. But what do these pronouncements do to the Bible’s history that begins with creation? Has modern science proven that the Bible’s history is inaccurate?

Nowhere in the Bible do we find an exact statement that says precisely how many years old the Earth is. However, the Bible is filled with statements that, if added together, can give us a fairly accurate age for the Earth. You see, in ancient times people did not receive pretty picture calendars from the local bank. Their calendars were much different from ours today – but they were very accurate. These calendars are recorded in the Bible.

Many people find little use for the lists in Scripture that say so and so begat so and so, who begat so and so when he was 70 years old. But these are not lists. They are the ancient calendars, preserved for us today in the Bible by God. Even the Chinese preserve their calendar by genealogies. If we chain all the “begats” together and add up the results, we find that the Earth cannot be much more than 6,000 years old. Even if there might be a few gaps between some of the “begats” (which seems unlikely), the Earth still cannot be much more than 7,000 years old.

There are actually more scientific dating methods that support this young age for the Earth than support the most ancient ages. The Bible’s history stands unchallenged by modern science!

When the apostle Paul, also named Saul, persecuted the early churches as recorded in the book of Acts, Jesus Christ appeared to him and said, “Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? I am Jesus whom thou persecutest” (Acts 9:4-5). Likewise, when the British police charged a Baptist church with “a hate incidence” for posting a simple (nearly innocuous) warning about hell, they were persecuting Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Creator of the world, and the only Saviour. God made hell as a prison house for those who rebel against His eternal authority and holy laws and refuse to repent, and Jesus Christ taught us to warn men of hell so they might be saved. Today Jesus is offering eternal salvation to all nations, but when He returns to earth, He will judge the nations and punish rebels. Jesus prophesied of this in Matthew’s Gospel: “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels ... And these shall go away into everlasting punishment” (Mat. 25:41, 46). Note that hell is described as everlasting fire, and note that it was not created for men but for fallen angels. The Son of God didn't die for angels; He died for men, and no one has to go to hell. Every individual who repents and believes on Christ as Lord and Saviour will be saved.
