![]() In a sign both of the Me Generation and the feminization, unisex-ation of society, there is a huge boom in men getting plastic surgery. The American Society of Plastic Aesthetic Surgery says the number of male surgeries increased more than 106% since 1997 (“Here’s Why There’s a Huge Boom,” Business Insider, Mar. 3, 2014). Douglas Steinbrech, a New York City-based plastic surgeon, lists three reasons why men use his services: to enhance one’s appearance, to enhance one’s career, and to regain a more youthful appearance. The most popular procedures are liposuction, rhinoplasty (nose job), eyelid surgery, gynescomastia (removal of breast tissue), and ear shaping.
