“The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever” (Psa. 37:18). This does not mean merely that God is aware of the saint’s situation. It means that He is intimately involved. He knows the situation intimately. He’s there. He’s aware. He’s involved. He cares. “David threw himself into those everlasting arms, into the arms of a God who is so big that billions of stars hang upon His words and innumerable angels rush to do His bidding, yet He can still find time to comfort a frail, mortal son of Adam’s ruined race” (John Phillips).
