![]() In a continuing onslaught of end-time apostasy and rebellion toward God's holy laws, as prophesied in Psalm 2, courts in Canada and Italy have come out in support of prostitution and pedophilia. In Canada, the Supreme Court struck down the nation's anti-prostitution laws. The unanimous decision found that the laws "violated the guarantee to life, liberty and security of the person" ("Canada's Anti-Prostitution Laws," Huffington Post, Dec. 20, 2013). In a news conference, a Vancouver "sex worker" responded to the decision, saying, "I'm shocked and pleased that our sex laws will [no longer] cause us harm." Meanwhile, in Italy the nation's highest court overturned the conviction of a 60-year-old man for having sex with an 11-year-old girl. The man is a social services worker whose dalliance was with a girl "from a poor family who had known and trusted" him. In 2011, he was convicted to five years in prison, but he will now have a new trial after the Italian Supreme Court determined that the conviction did not take into account "the consensus, the existence of an amorous relationship, the absence of physical force, the girl's feelings of love" ("Court Overturns Pedophile Conviction," 7 News, Australia, Dec. 31, 2013). This type of ruling was predictable in light of the growing acceptance of homosexuality as natural and acceptable. If a sexual relationship between two men or two women can be legitimized because "the relationship is consensual" and outside parties cannot regulate "love," then who is to say that it is wrong for a man to "love" a child? Jesus is coming, but in His great mercy He is still giving the people of the nations an opportunity to repent and be saved. "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).
